Outing to Chartwell

Starting out on time in a 60-seater coach, 48 of us set out for Chartwell, Winston Churchill's house in Kent.   Having manoeuvred our way round a burning car on the edge of Marlow! Darren worked his magic and the rest of the journey was uneventful.  We arrived in time for our included coffee and biscuits (though a few had an unexpected excitement when they got stuck in the lift on route to their coffee!!)  Some then had time to visit the Art Studio talk telling us about some of Churchill's numerous paintings, a fascinating insight, before the various timed ticket entrances to the house.  There was so much to see in the house, including a video of Churchill's State funeral, and the lake (with black swans on) and garden were at their autumn best.

Thank you Penny for organising such an interesting visit.
